Many
people who live in the Catalan capital chose to rent flats or
apartments in Barcelona as house prices in
the city are generally quite high, especially compared to salaries.
Rental prices are not cheap either but you can get a decent shared flat
in a nice part of town for a reasonable rent.

Be aware that the majority of flats and apartments on the rental market in Barcelona are unfurnished
and many even don't have curtains. This may seem inconvenient if you
are only staying a year, but unfurnished flats are a benefit if you are
staying in the long term. According to the law, the tenant may stay at
least five years in an unfurnished flat.
