Finding a job in Barcelona





Spain has been hit by the economic crisis more than most countries in the EU. Even though jobs are in short supply fortunately there are companies that are still recruiting. Salaries have been pushed down even more and employers are getting very picky about who they hire. If you want improve your chances of getting a job be well prepared for an interview, expect to have to go through a rigorous selection process and don't be tempted to ask for too much money.

If you want to find a job in Barcelona and really can't speak the language then don't worry. There are many ex-pat recruitment consultant companies in Barcelona and they often recruit for English speaking only roles. It will always be an advantage to also speak Spanish and even Catalan, but these days there are many international companies based in Barcelona and employers are looking for perfect English.

This site is absolutely huge in Spain. There are thousands of jobs in a wide variety of roles and industries. Many jobs are for English speakers. Register, fill in your CV and list your competencies. You can receive notifications of relevant jobs or do manual searches and apply online.

Again, another big site but this is specific to Barcelona. It is also has many other classified listings of second hand goods for sale.

Another on-line agency but this is based in Barcelona with a focus of IT, Sales & Marketing, E-commerce and Translation. Again, this agency recruits for many English speaking roles.


Tip - If you want to start earning quickly or part time, you can try offering private one to one English conversational tutoring lessons. You don't need a TEFL qualification and you post an advertisement in the windows of bars, gyms or bookshops in Barcelona. Typically you will be able to earn between 10 to 15 per hour.
