Spain
has been hit by the economic crisis more than most countries in the EU.
Even though jobs are in short supply fortunately there are companies
that are still recruiting. Salaries have been pushed down even more and
employers are getting very picky about who they hire. If you want
improve your chances of getting a job be well prepared for an
interview, expect to have to go through a rigorous selection process
and don't be tempted to ask for too much money.
If you want to find a job in
Barcelona and really can't speak the language then don't worry. There
are many ex-pat recruitment consultant companies in Barcelona and they
often recruit for English speaking only roles. It will always be an
advantage to also speak Spanish and even Catalan, but these days there
are many international companies based in Barcelona and employers are
looking for perfect English.
Below are a few sites that you can register with
to find a job.
1. www.infojobs.com
This site is absolutely huge in
Spain. There are thousands of jobs in a wide variety of roles and
industries. Many jobs are for English speakers. Register, fill in your
CV and list your competencies. You can receive notifications of
relevant jobs or do manual searches and apply online.
2. www.loquo.com

is
specific to Barcelona. It is also has many other classified listings of
second hand goods for sale.
3. www.Linq.es
This is a small company with an
office in the centre of Barcelona. They usually find work usually
for
ex-pats who now live in Barcelona. Well worth speaking to them as they

4. www.q-techrec.com
This is a very good recruitment
consultant that specialises mainly in IT recruitment. The owner is
English and if you call him he will arrange to see you.

5. www.redtalent.com
Another on-line agency but this
is
based in Barcelona with a focus of IT, Sales & Marketing,

English speaking roles.
Tip -
If you want to start earning quickly or part time, you can try offering
private one to one English conversational tutoring lessons. You don't
need a TEFL qualification and you post an advertisement in the windows
of bars, gyms or bookshops in Barcelona. Typically you will be able to
earn between 10€
to 15€ per hour.
For example, you can post your advertisement in an English bookshop for
about 0.50€ per
week (www.libreriainglesa.com).
